Propagation From Seed

Propagation refers to the entire growth process, however most people in the agricultural field refer to propagation as the process before the plant is in it’s main growing medium.

Propogation From Seed – Understanding Propagation and Germination

Propagation From Seed

In the beginning I would recommend buying ten seeds for a few reasons. To start one should germinate only a few at a time until you get the process down. This allows room for error. No one starts off a first class grower with a magical green thumb.

If you mess up you know you don’t have to spend more money on seeds at the moment and can try again. When growing marijuana it is important to have a plan with for what you are going to do with the male plant, because you have a few options.

One could separate the male plants and keep them for breeding if the quality of the plant is to your liking, you can scrap them into either composting or a few other alternatives, or you can simply not bother with them and just get rid of them from as soon as you can identify the sex.

It is important to note that to increase the production of marijuana the female plant should not be pollinated unless you intend to use that female for breeding. This is because the plant will produce more marijuana flowers in order to catch more pollen and as soon as it has the pollen the plant will change into its reproductive stages causing it to stop creating flowers.

The next point on the topic of seeds would be germination.

Germination is the process of getting your seed to begin growing. There are several methods to do this such as seed soil propagation, germination soil, seed towel propagation, and there are even propagation kits/cubes that anyone could work with.

Right now i won’t go into detail of what these processes are like because for the most part they are equally effective given the person has experience and knows the process. There are a few things one must keep in mind while germinating seeds.

Water them, don’t feed them, watch for cold/drafts,  no unnecessary tampering, light position/ avoid overstretching your plant, and to manage its environment.  The final step of the process would be transplanting.

During this process one should try to do it as early as possible. It must also be done very gently in order to avoid damaging the roots and stunting the plant’s growth.
