How To Deal With Leaf Miners

Leaf miners are a menace for farmers. They will burrow into your leaves to feed and lay their eggs.

Once their eggs hatch the larvae will also begin to consume your leaves. This will leave brown lines throughout the leaves on your plant and will act as a warning sign of what’s to come.

The adults are pretty easy to deal with and many experienced growers will leave adhesive strips near the crops to help prevent them from laying more eggs. The difficult part is dealing with the larvae and existing eggs.

You can either manually remove eggs or treat the plants. I prefer to stay organic so I would recommend spinosad products or anything similar.

These organic products work very well with most insects and can really save your crops. Ones that are made from soil bacterium tend to be very effective in dealing with these pests.
