Harvest – How To Know When To Harvest
Knowing when to harvest can be tricky to the untrained eye but it is actually a lot simpler than one would think.
When it comes to harvesting there are three common methods in which people determine if their harvest is ready to be picked. This time will occur after the flowering stage and you may begin to notice some subtle changes in the flower.
One of these changes include color change on the pistols. Somewhere between 50-70% of them will change in color. Depending on the individual plant the color change may vary but it should be pretty distinct. The plant will cease to produce more trichomes and the existing trichomes will stop growing.
Next, the leaves will begin to turn yellow and eventually drop off from the plant. One of the last physical changes will be that the bud mass will stop growing. The last notable change will be the smell.
At the time where you should harvest the smell should peak and be the strongest it’s going to be. There are also a few tests one can perform in order to gauge if the plant is ready to be harvested.
Tests such as bud samples and an expert harvest test which i will explain in another article on the process but they are strong indicators that your bud is ready to be harvested.
